Sunshine Coast, B.C. – General Manager and Head Coach Brad Wingfield announced today that the team has committed to 2004-born goaltender Nick Peters (Powell River, BC).

Peters (5’8”, 192 pounds) spent the past three seasons in the VIJHL with the Campbell River Storm. He posted a 2.46 GAA, .914 SV%, and five shutouts in 94 regular season games over the past three seasons. He had a record of 69-13.

The veteran goaltender had a 2.83 GAA, .911 SV%, and three shutouts in 28 postseason games throughout three seasons. His record was 11-10.

Peters, a 2024 VIJHL all-star, played nine BCHL games with the Powell River Kings.

“I’m honoured to be a part of the Tsunami organization for my last season of junior. I’ve heard nothing but great things about the community, and I can’t wait to see all the support,” he said.

Peters is expected to have a heavy workload as he looks to have a successful season with his new team.

“We are proud to announce the signing of VIJHL all-star and Tsunami starting goaltender Nick Peters. This is the guy we have had our eye on since I became part of the Tsunami,” said Head Coach and General Manager Brad Wingfield.

“Nick will be our backbone, one of the leaders that we will rely upon heavily. He has the leadership and star power to relish in the role we will ask of him. He will be a huge part of the tsunami going forward,” he added.

Peters is the fifth of many players, and the first goaltender, committed to playing for the new expansion franchise, the Tsunami, which will begin its preseason in August.
